David Hawken was born in Stratford, Canada .
I have always been interested in Art right from an early age.   
I have had many great instructors and mentors through out my life. Teaching myself to draw and paint has taken many hard hours in the studio and now I am finally starting to feel the benefits.
With my landscapes I feel memories of the experience more important than the reference material I collect through photography and drawing.
I feel fortunate to live in Ottawa with the National Gallery as a source of inspiration and information. Here I can study the lives and working methods of the Masters. But when all is said and done
"I love making Art, the fun is in the doing".

David currently resides in Ottawa, Canada with his wife Susan.
